Today’s trip to Te Papa Tongarewa revealed the new exhibition!
The Chinese Terracotta Army: It took more than 700.000 workers to create the First Emperor’s Army and tomb complex. It remained a secret for over 2.000 years. There are about 8.000 soldiers in total, most of which were unearthed broken and being carefully pieced back together. No two warriors are the same, each one is unique and incredibly lifelike. Originally, they were painted in bright colours and once held real weapons. They are taller than the average person, measuring 2 metres high and weigh between 100 and 300 kg.
