There’s this NZ mineral website from where I printed out the locations of gemstone beaches – it has been a major fun factor in our summer holidays and … well, we just like to fosick around. Hicks Bay is said to be a place for agate, and we FOUND SOME! After smashing a dozen rocks (and nothing) there was this forlorn piece of plastic on the ground (but it wasn’t plastic, it was pure white rimmed agate). Yeah :)
