We left the Eastland faster than we intended to, having a date with a tyre company at Whakatane already organised. With an emergency tyre you’re not safely going more than 80 km/h which was OK since all the bends of northern Eastland didn’t allow us to drive more than 60 km/h anyway. Patchy rain followed us out into the Bay of Plenty, but strong northwesterlies pushed the clouds back inland, so we stayed dry despite of the dark cloudy backdrop.
The Christ Church at Raukokore, a beautiful white building on a stormy and exposed cliff. Can you see the stabilising poles?
The girls decided it would be a very good idea to take this tyre from the beach with us, just in case.
