The community had been looking forward to this event since summer, the first Autumn Fair with harvest and dragon theme was awaited eagerly. Everybody had their share on preparations, cooking, crafting, organising, helping out … and when we were all together for the blessing at the start of the fair, the sun shining warm (after heavy thunderstorms yesterday night)(with thunder rolling like earthquakes), we knew it would be a lovely day (and it was). Our girls got a handfull of tickets each for the games and we only saw them from time to time, running by with their friends, having fun. That’s what I found on evintfinda.co.nz on the matter:

Organiser Fabienne Ussher says the fair’s theme is ‘St Michael and the Dragon’, after the tale of the Catholic Saint who slayed a dragon in heaven. ‘This is an opportunity to experience a school fair with a difference, and help us fundraise for our running costs, as we don’t receive government funding. Come enjoy the magical atmosphere, experience the bonfire in the evening, and conquer your inner dragon. It will be a spectacular sight!’
‘The fair will be held at our current leased home, the old maternity hospital on High Street. The hospital has seen the births of many local babies over the years, and has nurtured our blossoming school which started 10 years ago. Autumn is a time to celebrate the end of summer, enjoy abundance, and prepare for the dormancy of winter and re-birth of spring.’ The hospital lease expires in November 2015, so the school is also fundraising for and actively seeking a new home in the Motueka area.”
