Unlike Christmas, which was kind of … hot to have in the middle of summertime, Easter feels utterly wrong in Autumn. Couldn’t say why, is it the symbolism, the missing flowers and spring air about it? Or the fact that most people don’t seem to care about the religious side of the holidays – not that we participated much in rituals at home but the complete absence of church bells, processions and the appertaining market stalls and “Kirtag” is distracting; it’s not only a dear memory, it’s cultural heritage (that we miss here). The main holiday seems to be Good Friday and Easter Sunday, all shops on High Street are closed (to our surprise)(this is a rare occasion) – survived on soup and cake :)
