After two days and nights at Hanmer we really wanted to see some ocean view again. So … all! Jump in the car! Let’s go! Our destination Hokitika, as other spots in the area are known for gold as well as pounamu (Jade, “greenstone”). All the gold has been discovered and washed out the sand long ago, but jade still runs in the West Coast rivers: All shades of green, from clear to cloudy can be fosicked in raw form at the shores of rivers and the Tasman Sea. That’s a place we can’t miss, sure if there is any pounamu, we will find it :)
